RAF 1333 ATC Dedication Service and Unveiling of Spitfire X4859

 

 

The following photos show the Service of Dedication Ceremony and the Unveiling of Spitfire X4859 that took place at (the former) RAF Grangemouth in Stirlingshire, on Thursday 9 May 2013.

Spitfire X4859 was flown by Sgt Pilot Eugeniusz Lukomski (23), POLISH, of 58 OTU who was killed in November 1941 after crashing in the grounds of Avondale Estate, Polmont. (More at this website...)

The Duke's great, great grandfather was the RAF officer in charge of 602 (Glasgow) and 603 (Edinburgh) Sqns. during the war.
